8 weeks…

IMG_0643This week, I am 8 weeks pregnant.  Now that we know that there are TWO babies in there, who knows HOW BIG THIS BELLY is going to get!

I have been pretty nauseous the last few weeks.  I was not nauseous at all while pregnant with Mallory.  The doctor says I definitely have more hormones going on with twins, so maybe this is the reason.  I have also been very tired.  Of course, I am always worn out the first few weeks of a new school year…getting back into the swing of things, standing up all day, dealing with hundreds of kids.  But, being in my first trimester as well, I have been extremely tired.  I am usually done by 7:00 at night; once I sit on the couch, I can’t get back up.  But, Wesley and Mallory are taking good care of me, so  am in good hands… IMG_0644It has been pretty crazy telling everyone about the twins.  People have different reactions…they are either so overwhelmed for us or so very excited.

Granny was just plain excited; Papaw was a little more surprised.

When we told Dad and Judy I was pregnant, they said, “We always thought we would have 8 grandchildren.”  So, when I called them to tell them about the twins, I simply said, “You need to change that number 8 to 9!”  Of course they got it right away, and they were shocked but so very excited!

When Daddy told Mimi and Granddad there’s two, they were super excited, too!  Mimi said Granddad kind of chuckled.

We are so thankful to have such wonderful parents!  And, Mallory and these babies are so lucky to have the best grandparents!

We called Uncle Joe, Aunt Angie, Uncle Jody, and Aunt Joni on the web cam…it was so fun to watch Mallory tell them, “I am going to be a big sister.”  They were so excited.  But, when she would also told them, “And, we are going to have two babies.”  They could not believe it!!!

Chris and Molly were pretty funny, too.  When I called them and let Mallory tell them, all Chris said was, “Lori.”  He couldn’t believe what he heard.

My friends are so excited for me, and they have been such good friends to listen to all my worries and concerns.  They all tell me how great it is going to be.  Paulette is so sweet and giddy about the whole thing.  Julie says if anyone she knows can handle it, it is me, because I am so organized.  Mel says it is wonderful and a double blessing.  When I told Erin, I asked her if they would still go places with us…she laughed and said yes, you will need the extra hand.  Kristy, Allison, and Terri were so good to me at work…they were the first ones I told the day I found out.  As soon, as I saw them after my appointment, I burst into tears.  They thought I had a miscarriage.  When I said, “They told us there’s two,” they freaked out with excitement and gave me the biggest hugs!  My friends understand the overwhelmed feeling I have, but they keep telling me it is going to all work out and be great…definitely things I need to hear.  I am so lucky to have such great friends!

“Granny and Papaw, you’re not going to believe this!”

IMG_0589-1Tonight, we made plans to go to tell Granny and Papaw our exciting news, but they would get two surprises at once…pregnant with twins!

When we drove up, they were already outside, so we told Granny to turn around, because Mallory had a surprise for her…

IMG_0594-1Then, Mommy showed Granny the sonogram picture…it did not take Granny long to notice, she yelled, “TWINS!”  Granny gave Mommy the biggest hug, and we both started crying.  Granny was crying from pure excitement and joy; Mommy was crying from being overwhelmed…

Granny took Mallory straight in to call Aunt Dolly…Mallory said, “I’m going to be a BIG SISTER, and we are going to have TWO BABIES!”

Then, we all went out to eat to celebrate…Mommy could barely eat because of being so nauseous…some having to do with just being pregnant, and I’m sure some because of the shocking news of the day :)

OMG! No Way! Are you sure?!?!

09-21-2009

After dropping Mallory off at Ms. Sharon’s, Mommy and Daddy went to the doctor for our first sonogram.  I was so ready to see that flashing heartbeat, so I would know all is good.  I was nervous on the way there and sitting in the waiting room.

We finally were called back to the sono room, and we were ready!  The sonogram lady got started, but she did not say much.  I was ready for her to say, “There’s the baby, see the heartbeat.”  But, she was very quiet, and she was making me more nervous with her lack of talking.  My heart was beating out of my chest, and I just knew she was going to tell us I had a miscarriage.

Finally she spoke, “I wasn’t going to say this until I was for sure, there’s TWO.”  My heart went from beating way too fast to almost stopping.  I couldn’t even look at Wesley; I was just looking at the screen.  Plain as day, you could see two little blobs with flashing heartbeats.  Then, she said, “Yep, you are having TWINS.”  I said a cuss word; then, I quickly apologized.  She said, “Oh, that’s okay, I have heard worse.”  I finally turned to look at Wesley; he was leaning back in his chair with his hand on his chest.  We were FREAKED OUT!!!  She told us, “BABY A’s heartrate is 144 and BABY B’s heartrate is 155 . She gave us some pictures, and told us to move to another room to see the doctor.  She left, and Wesley and I just looked at each other.  We didn’t know what to think or say or do.  She finally had to come back in the room to get us, because we weren’t moving.

We went into the other room and had to wait a few minutes for the doctor.  I started crying, so overwhelmed with all the thoughts running through my head.  Wesley said, “Look on the bright side, at least she didn’t say there’s three.”

The doctor walked in and said, “Well, this changes everything!”  He talked about all the differences of a twin pregnancy, and we just sat quietly in shock.  Finally, we left the doctor’s office in a daze.

After being very unfocused at work the rest of the day, I went to pick up Mallory.  I started crying as soon as I saw Sharon, showed her my sonogram picture and said, “Will you even keep twins?”  She said, “Of course I will,” and gave me a much needed hug.

When we got home, we sat Mallory on our bed to tell her…

Mommy: “Mommy and Daddy went to the doctor today.  And, the doctor told us mommy has TWO babies in her tummy.”

Mallory: Looking surprised, “That sure will be a lot of diapers!”

Mommy: “That’s right”  I am fighting back tears.

Mallory: “How about this, I change one and y’all change one.”

We just gave her the biggest hug!!

Later, I told her…

Mommy: “The babies are going to think that you are the BEST big sister.  They are going to think you are so cool and want to play with you.

Mallory: “Well, what if I don’t want to play with them?  Can I go to my room and close the door?”

Mommy: As I am laughing, “Yes, I am sure there will be times you need to do that!” And I thought to myself, I will probably need to go with you!

It is going to be a big adjustment for all of us!!

“Ms. Sharon, Check This Out!”

IMG_0570Mommy got to take Mallory to Ms. Sharon’s this morning before her doctor appointment.  Mallory was excited to share her news with Ms. Sharon and her friends… IMG_0569Mallory had her Big Sister shirt and book, ready to go!

Start Spreading the News!

IMG_0545-1Last night, we met Pawpaw, Mimi, and Aunt Teresa out for dinner.  We got there first, so we went ahead and got a table.  As soon as Mallory saw them walk in, she stood up and stuck her chest out, so proud of her new shirt!  It was so cute!  Mimi read it right away and got this shocked look on her face and turned quickly to look at me.  Mallory turned to Pawpaw so he could see her shirt; then, she put her little hands around her mouth and whispered, “Pawpaw, Mommy’s got a baby in her tummy.”

It was so cute to watch Mallory tell them the news…she already is such a proud big sister!

IMG_0547-1Mimi and Pawpaw are ready for their EIGHTH grandchild!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMG_0548-1Today, we went over to Mimi and Granddad’s house.  We told them to sit down in the living room, because Mallory had something to show them…

BIG NEWS!

IMG_0524-3Mallory is going to be a BIG SISTER!!

IMG_0529The big day is May, 2, 2010!

IMG_0531-2

I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago…Saturday, August 22nd. After my first week back at work, I came home Friday afternoon feeling very nauseous. I couldn’t believe I was already getting sick and the kids weren’t even back at school yet! But, my Art teacher went home that day with a stomach virus, so I thought I got it from her since we worked together all week. I laid in bed all Friday night feeling so sick to my stomach. Saturday morning when I woke up feeling the same way, Wesley said, “Maybe you’re pregnant.” I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of that! I just felt so bad, and I just thought I was sick!

Wesley went to store to buy a test, and as soon as he got back, I took it. And, it was POSITIVE!! YEA!! I was so excited…still very nauseous, but very excited! I told a couple of friends right away, but I wanted to wait until I went to the doctor before telling Mallory, grandparents, family, and others.

I FINALLY had my first doctor appointment on Thursday, September 17th. Man, it sure felt like forever waiting those few weeks from taking the test until my first visit. I was so ready to make sure everything was okay, so I could tell everyone but especially MALLORY!

My appointment only consisted of blood work, a urine sample, and chatting with the doctor. I told my doctor I was disappointed that I was not having a sonogram, because I wanted to make sure all was good and see the heartbeat. He said I could come back next week for a sonogram. So, we scheduled one for the following Monday…the quickest we could get!!!

Sonogram or not, we already had plans to meet with grandparents this weekend, and we couldn’t wait to tell Mallory!!! So, today after Mallory and I got back from a baby shower, we sat her down and told her…

I am not sure Mallory totally comprehends it since my belly is not big yet. But, it is so cute how she said she would help change diapers and wipe the baby’s face! She is going to be an AWESOME BIG SISTER!!!

After telling Mallory, we were ready to tell the GRANDPARENTS…

READ Poster…

IMG_0490-1This is Mallory’s second year to earn a READ poster from the Hurst Public Library.  Mallory and Mommy participated in the Summer Reading Program again this summer, and Mallory earned this poster by reading over 75 hours!  Mallory loves to read books, and those are some of Mommy’s favorite times when we cuddle up together and read.  Mallory got to bring a book to take her picture with, and she chose Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy…Mallory loves “Fancy Dancy” books…
