"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents." — Emilie Buchwald

This summer, mommy and Mallory have been going to the library and checking out books. We turn in a reading log, and Mallory gets rewarded for her reading. She has received stickers, crayons, a coloring book, a certificate, dog tags and coupons for restaurants, the waterpark, the museum, and the circus. She also got to pick out a book to keep...she chose "Mary Had a Little Lamb."
Some of my favorite times are reading books with Mallory. We always read before nap, bedtime, and other times throughout the day. It is a great time for me to cuddle up with her :o)

Mallory reads books a lot more by herself now...she will sit on the floor in her room next to her bookshelf and read. She says the words that are supposed to be on the pages, because she has memorized them. It is so cute how she imitates the way I read...

This is Mallory's favorite book, "My Very First Mother Goose." She wants me to read this to her everyday, and she reads by herself several times a day. She knows many of her nursery rhymes...Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty, Shoo Fly, Hey Diddle Diddle, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Little Boy Blue, Jack Be Nimble, and Hickory Dickory Dock.

We also play Ring Around the Rosie and London Bridge.

This is the book the library gave her for her good reading...

I love how she uses her knees to hold up the book...

Our little reader...
